YouTube for Learning

This weekend my son appeared as an ensemble cast member in our local Youth CONNection production of the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie.  My son has been acting in high school and regional theater productions for a while now, but this one was different.   In other shows he has been in, he has had to primarily act and sing.  This show involved dancing.   I love my son, but I would never identify him as a "dancer."   In order to get selected for the ensemble, he spent a few weeks in pre-audition workshops with the choreographer.   Once he and several of his friends were selected to be in the show,  the real work began.   Besides the rehearsals he attended several times a week, the choreographer sent the ensemble members a private YouTube video of the dance numbers so they could practice at home.   It certainly helped my son.  Although he isn't entirely graceful, he is able to perform all the steps without missing a cue.

There are three more performances next weekend.  If any of you Floridians happen to be in Shelton Connecticut....

  1. Hope the performances all go well this weekend!

It's funny that you should write this. I was watching a flashmob of people dancing and wondered how they got it all coordinated when I thought "bet a youtube video would help with that" and then here you have an example!
