How do issues such as authorship, copyright and open access impact your desire, ability and willingness to engage in produsage, both personally and professionally?
I think it is absolutely important to respect people's authorship and copyrights. No one should be deprived of the ability to make an income off of their work. As for things that I produce and share in the Web 2.0 world, I do so without a profit motive so I'm not concerned about the issue. I just want to share information freely. If anything I create and share can be of use to someone else, then I'm happy to have helped. However, in the unlikely case that I ever have a really good idea and produce something profound, I reserve the right to change my mind about this in the future.

ReplyDeleteI think the tricky part for most people comes in when sharing might affect their livelihood. There is an economy tied to information, and getting away from that altogether will require some big shifts in how certain kinds of intellectual work are done.
